SRINAGAR, July 6 : A meeting was convened by the Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone today to review the pace of construction of new Legislative complex at Jammu.
The Deputy Speaker Legislative Assembly, Sartaj Madni, Managing Director and officers of JKPCC attending the meeting.
The Speaker while taking serious note of the slow pace of execution work on the complex directed the authorities of JKPCC to explore all out possibilities of getting execution work expedited so that the prestigious complex could be completed within the stipulated period of time. He was also of the view that slow pace of work always results in the escalation of cost of works, as such it was imperative on the part of the executing agency to put in place all efforts at its disposal for the timely completion of the complex .
The Deputy Speaker also stressed upon the authorities concerned to adhere strictly to the instructions of the Speaker. It was decided that Deputy Speaker and Secretary Legislative Assembly will conduct a spot inspection of the site in the next week for ascertaining the pace of work on the complex.
Anticipating damages to the existing complex on account of excavation of the earth which resulted in developing cracks of the remaining soil adjacent to the plinth of old complex, the authorities of JKPCC were asked to take precautionary measures by way of raising columns to ensure that no damage is caused to the existing complex.
