WWEPC to sign MoU with JKTPO: Khajuria

New Delhi, June 3: Romesh Khajuria, Chairman, Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), Ministry of Textiles, Khajuria said that Government of India issued directions to trade bodies to focus on export of products from Jammu & Kashmir and in continuation WWEPC is in process to enter a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) and will work jointly in the direction to enhance the export of UT of J&K.
He while addressing the 182nd meeting of the Committee of Administration (COA) held here announced that WWEPC set a target of US Dollars one billion export of woollen products during 2002-23.
This was Khajuria’s first COA meeting after taking over as Chairman of the Council.
Khajuria lauded the role of Government of India in promoting new startups and entrepreneurs in the field of exports.
He said that free trade agreements with Australia and the United Arab Emirates is the vision of Prime Minister, Narender Modi in enhancing the exports of India.
He said Piyush Goel, Minister for Commerce & Industries and Textiles is already working on the free trade agreements with UK and EU countries. He further appreciated the hard work of the exporter’s fraternity in achieving the 400 billion US dollars export target during 2021-22.
While presenting current year’s planning he said WWEPC planned to participate/organise more than 20 international trade events for the exporters around the globe which will give boost to the exports apart from this 4 domestic woollen expos and capacity building workshops for new entrepreneurs at different clusters of woollen products he further said that these domestic events will provide opportunities to new entrepreneurs to become exporters.
Suresh Thakur Executive Director, WWEPC presented the agenda which was discussed at length , Vice Chairman, Sumir Dhir presented vote of thanks. Others prominent present were Sanjiv Dhir , Rajneesh Ghai both ex chairpersons , R C Khanna, Sandeep Thapar, D K Jain, Rajesh Khanna, Harish Dua, Kawmaljeet Singh, Varun Kalra, Harmeet Bhalla joined virtually all COA Members special invitees were Anil verma, Rajneesh Bansal,, Afaq Qadri and Vimal Shah.
