LOS ANGELES, Oct 4: Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall” has hit Number 1 on the UK’s Official Top 100 Singles Chart, making it the first James Bond theme to ever top the tally.
Before Smith, the two highest-charting Bond themes on the Official Top 100 Singles Chart were a pair that peaked at Number 2: Adele’s “Skyfall” and Duran Duran’s “A View to Kill”, reported Billboard.
“It was such an honour to be asked to write and record ‘Writing’s on the Wall,’ and it’s incredible that it’s become the first Number 1 Bond theme song. It’s been an unforgettable experience working with Barbara (Broccoli) and Sam (Mendes) to become part of this British legacy.
“I couldn’t have done this without my fans, this is a special moment I’ll never forget,” he said.
Daniel Craig reprises his role as the spy agent for the fourth time in the Bond film directed by Sam Mendes.
“Spectre”, is due to be released in the UK simultaneously with its London world premiere on October 26 before hitting the US on November 6 and in India on November 20. (PTI)
