World Elders Abuse Awareness Day observed

JAMMU, June 15: World Elders Abuse Awareness Day was observed at Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School, RS Pura with the senior students of the school.
The subject matter was introduced by AK Arora, president of the Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens. The word ‘abuse’ used in the awareness day was explained in detail by him along with other cases of elder abuse. Simple examples were given for the young children to understand the importance of the day and how elders are being abused in other matters.
Other members along with a lady member also spoke on the subject. They told them that the caretakers, the children, the civil society and the Government shall sit together and spread awareness amongst the youth about their responsibility towards their seniors on this day.
Senior students, both boys and girls, also spoke on the subject and expressed their sentiments towards their parents and senior citizens. Mementos were presented to the students, who spoke on the occasion.
