JAMMU, June 15: While condemning the killing of senior journalist and editor of Rising Kashmir, Shujaat Bukhari and his two PSOs and an Army jawan from Poonch who was coming to join his family on Eid, in two separate incidents in Kashmir, former minister and senior Congress leader, RS Chib today alleged that ceasefire decision of the Modi Govt has proved a big blunder.
Reacting sharply on killings spree in Kashmir, Chib termed the ceasefire in Kashmir during the month of Ramzan despite opposition by the top Military Commanders, heads of Security and Intelligence agencies, as big blunder on the part of Union Govt. He said on the recommendation of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, the BJP Govt at the Centre ordered ceasefire and also gave amnesty to stone pelters. The militants groups and their heads got opportunity of re-grouping and extending their activities. Moreover, the released stone pelters did not stop their activities. They all were `provided enough breathing time’, which indicates a deep rooted conspiracy.
Chib described the attack on Editor of a newspaper in Kashmir, kidnapping of jawan from Shopian and his killing besides sudden rise in the killings of security forces in Kashmir, as result of big blunder of BJP Govt at the Centre and PDP-BJP combine in the State. He said there is no response at all from the militants side while security forces have been asked to maintain ceasefire. These incidents are eye opener for the Union Govt.
The PCC leader said that militant groups have intensified their strikes after getting breathing time with the ceasefire by forces. The security agencies and people of the State are paying the price. He demanded that Centre should withdraw this order immediately, in the interest of the State and the country, otherwise, it will be too, late. This act has also demoralized the security forces operating under very tough situation in the State.
While launching scathing attack on PDP-BJP Govt in the State, Chib demanded imposition of Governor rule in the State. He alleged that this Govt has become liability and is pushing the State towards destruction and uncertainty. Condition on borders has worsened and people are living under terror of Pak guns. Thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes. This Government has lost moral responsibility to rule the State, Chib maintained.
