World Congress of Anthropology-2023 to be hosted in India after 45 yrs

JAMMU, July 22: Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) deemed to be University, which is the first-ever tribal university of the world and regarded as the world’s largest anthropological laboratory, will host 19th International Union of Anthrop-ological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES) World Congress-2023.
This was disclosed today by Dr Achyuta Samanta, founder of KITT & KISS while addressing a press conference at New Delhi. He said that IUAES World Congress is held every five years in different parts of the world and after a long gap of 45 years, India will be hosting this prestigious meet at KISS & KITT, Bhubaneshwar. “Scheduled to be held from January 15-19, 2023, this mega event will be attended by more than 10,000 delegates,” he added.
“The World Congress of Anthropology-2023 will be hosted by KISS & KITT, Odisha in collaboration with Utkal University and Sambalpur university of Odisha and Indian Anthropological Association, Delhi. He said the bid for hosting the World Congress was held during the congress held in Brazil from July 16-20, 2018 in which more than 5000 delegates participated,” Dr Samanta said.
He informed that Prof Soumendra Mohasn Patnaik (VC, Utkal University), Prof Deepak Kumar Behera (VC, Sambalpur University) and KISS team presented the plan before the General Assembly to host this mega event in Bhubaneshwar, India.
“Besides the major Congress, there will be some pre-Congress and post-Congress meets in different parts of India,” Dr Samanta said and added that the Department of Anthropological, KISS; Department of Anthro-pology, Sambalpur University; Department of Anthropology, Utkal University and Indian Anthropological Association, Delhi are the partners of the IUAES World Congress-2023.
