Workshop on Juvenile Justice Act held

DODA, June 17: A workshop on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act was organized at District Police Line (DPL), here today.
The workshop was attended by Sajjad Hussain Councillor CPS, SP Operations Doda Ravinder Pal Singh, Additional SP Headquarters Doda Master Popsy, PO Rohit Tadyal, Nazia Kousar Shan POIC Protection Officer CPS Doda, DySP DAR Mansoor Ayaz, social workers of Social Welfare Doda and officer and officials of Police Department.
Additional SP Headquarters Doda emphasized on the role of vibrant child protection mechanism in the District and the role of Judicial Officers and Police in the implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act.
He stressed that all the stakeholders must work in close coordination so that the mandate of the Act is achieved in letter and spirit on the ground. He also emphasized that the juvenile justice needs urgent attention from all the departments and the civil society as well.
The participants raised various queries about establishing structures under the Act which is supported by the Integrated Child Protection Scheme.
PO Rohit Tadyal and Sajjad Hussain Councillor CPS also interacted with the participants. PO Rohit Tadyal stressed that awareness of community is very important in order to stop exploitation of children, protection and development of children. He added that in Doda whenever incidents of abuse are being reported, they are dealt with utmost priority and high sensitivity. Although there is no organized trafficking of children in Doda but we cannot ignore it.
Sajjad Hussain Councillor CPS stressed said that there are number of crimes happening in the society and children are watching all this. He also discussed about the discrimination among the girl children.
He appealed to all the participants to take care of all the children irrespective of their caste, color, sex or religion.
DySP DAR Manzoor Ayaz while interacting with the participants said that the incidents of child abuse and child exploitation have increased as compared to the past.
