POONCH, Mar 24: A woman died under mysterious circumstances in the house of her parents at village Uchhad last evening.
The deceased has been identified as Shameel Akhtar (47), daughter of Muneer Hussain and wife of Mohd Tufail, resident of Mankote. While the brothers and parents of the woman claimed that she died due to house collapse, her husband and children alleged that she has been done to death and they have cooked a story of house collapse while there was no rain for the last two days and the that house was not so old.
The police party took the body into its control and after conducting postmortem handed over the body to her family.
The preliminary inquiry by police said that Mohd Tufail, husband of deceased Shameel Akhtar was living with her parents for the last about one and half year after she and her parents and brother had some dispute over the money. Mohd Tufail was working in Saudi Arabia for about 10 years and he used to send money in the account of his wife. When Tufail returned after ten years and asked for the accounts, he found that a large amount had been allegedly transferred to the accounts of some members of her parents family. This was the reason behind the strained relations between Tufail and his wife and in-laws. Tufail was pressurising her parents to return his money. Tufail has three daughters and two sons and two daughters are married. They have also alleged some foul play with their mother.
The police said that they have registered a case in this connection and this all seems to be a drama enacted by that family. No convincing evidence of her being buried under the debris have been found. The possibility of murder can not be ruled out. Investigation under 174 CrPC has been started.
