RAMBAN, Feb 21: A young woman here today was crushed by a bus near Bus Stand Ramban.
Police said driver of the bus involved in the accident escaped from the spot leaving behind his vehicle.
They said that a rashly and negligently driven bus bearing registration number JK02BB-2587 while on way to Jammu from Ramban crushed a woman who was crossing the road.
She was immediately rushed to District Hospital Ramban where doctors declared her as dead on arrival.
The deceased was identified as Pooja Devi, 35, wife of Yudhveer Singh, resident of Kundi, Karool, Tehsil and district Ramban.
In this regard, Police has registered a case in FIR no. 22, under Section 281/106, BNS, at Police Station Ramban and started investigation.
Locals informed that due to ongoing construction work of Bus Stand Ramban all the buses and mini-buses are parked on the old alignment of the road on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway passing through Ramban town due to which the road passing through the area always remains congested.
Moreover, the fruit vendors have further encroached the road leaving no footpath for pedestrians.
Some locals informed that the deceased was crushed between two buses while she was crossing the road.
