JAMMU, Nov 16: A meeting of OBC Department JKPCC was held here at Congress Headquarter, Shaheedi Chowk in which the district chairmen of OBC Department from four districts were also present.
The meeting was presided over by chairman OBC Department, Pradesh Congress Committee Adv. Suresh Kumar Dogra. In the meeting the Constitutional and legal rights of OBC were discussed. Adv. Suresh Dogra said that with the conversion of State into UTs, the UT Government has winded up seven Government Commissions, but the State Commission for Backward Classes is continuous in process despite of National Commission for Backward Classes.
He said it is a big deception and fraud by the part of the Government. Being 52% population in J&K, the Government is not caring for their demands. Since the formation of SCBC on May 24 in 1995 there is no OBC representative in the panel of the Commission. Instead of giving adequate representation in this panel the erstwhile BJP- PDP Government nominated only non OBC members in the panel and betrayed the OBC people. He demanded disbanding of this panel which should actually have been disbanded after October 31.
He said if the UT administration is directly controlled by Centre and there is provision of one law and one nation in the UT, then why the stepmother behaviour is being done with 52% population of J&K. He urged the Lieutenant Governor G.C. Murmu to implement NCBC instead of SCBC to make complete UT otherwise UT will not be acceptable to the OBC people also.
The vice- chairman of the Department Parshotam Lal Mehra said, “we demand national laws to be extended in UT. The other prominent who were present Abhishek Kumar (State Media Coordinator), Rajkumar Mehra, Rajinder Verma, Bhushan lal , Somnath Verma , Vishal Salgotra , Ashok Verma, Sunny and others.
