JAMMU, Apr 22: The widespread protests against the Delhi rape continued for third consecutive day today with various women organizations, social and political parties staging demonstrations and blocking road at different places in the region.
Bhartiya Bahujan Party organized a protest demonstration at Asia crossing today against the shameful act of rape of a minor child in New Delhi. The protestors also blocked the B C road. The demonstration was led by Kanchan Sharma, State president BBP. The Party leaders raised the slogans against the inaction of the Government.
Addressing the protestors Sharma said that such an ugly incident is a shameful act which deserves condemnation.
She said that this act has forced the people to raise their voice for making strict laws against the rapists who deserve capital punishment. She also condemned the slapping of a protestor by a Delhi Police officer and urged the Union Government to take action against him under law.
Another protest demonstration was held by ABVP at Parade Chowk here. Criticizing the Delhi Police for its inhuman approach and Union Government for its utter failure to protect the dignity of women in the country, the protestors demanded PM’s resignation.
Holding placards which read “we want capital punishment for rapists, stop sexual violence against girls, Surakshit Nari, Surakshit Desh-ABVP Ka Yahi Hain Sandesh, raise your voice with ABVP, Delhi kay gunahgar ko fansi do, fansi do”. The protestors also shouted slogans demanding that the Government speed up the punishment process of the rapists.
Addressing the protestors ABVP city secretary, Arun Prabhat Singh said that UPA Government has not learnt any lesson from last incident in the national capital which rocked the country. It was shame for the country which is one of the ancient civilizations in the world that girls were not safe here. Kailash Goswami ABVP State joint secretary demanded death punishment for rapists.
Other ABVP activists who participated in the protest included Arjun Mengi, Raman, Shahid, Shaiez, Sheetal, Rohit, Vishal, Gourav, Akhil, Shakti, Ankush, Saksahm,Raman, Aaqib, Shubam Anju Dogra, Parveen Arora, Sangeeta, Pinky and Neelam.
Jiyo Aur Jeene Do a NGO of Udhampur organised a candle light march to show their concern towards the crime against women after the serious shameful incident that occurred in Delhi recently with an innocent girl.
Holding candles in their hands and raising slogans of `save girl, save nation’ the members of NGO moved through various streets. They were all demanding security and safety of girls.
Speaking on the occasion little member of NGO Asiya said that “we daughters are worshipped in this country especially in Navratras but such incidents hurt us and we must be given security along with the worship”
BJP Mahila Morcha district Udhampur also organized a protest against the rape of a child in Delhi. The protest was led by Manju Gupta, president of district Unit BJP Morcha. The protestors were raising slogans against the Congress and UPA Government and Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit for her failure in providing security to women.
While addressing the demonstrators Manju Gupta said that when entire civil society is on roads throughout the country to condemn the act but the Delhi Government has no shame on this sensitive issue and it is taking it very lightly despite the fact that such incidents are increasing day by day.
J&K Gujjar Federation president Shokat Gujjar has also condemned the rape on a five year old girl in Delhi and urged the Government of India to take some drastic steps to curb such incidents in the country.
