JAMMU, Jan 12: A meeting of Jammu Province Mochi Watal and Safai Karamchari Union (JPMWSKU) was held under the chairmanship of Ghulam Ali, president of the Union, here today.
Various issues regarding the welfare of Safai Karamcharies were discussed in the meeting.
Mr Ali said that Sunday should be kept holiday for the hapless Safai Karamcharies at par with other Government employees as they serve under worst circumstances.
The meeting said that the Safai Karamcharies should be provided all the pending arrears of their services till date, adding that the Union is required to be registered with the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra as the poor Safai Karamcharies of this Board are also facing injustice at the hands of the authorities due to their non-regularization.
The Union further demanded that new appointments should be made on the vacant posts in Shrine Board Katra, Hospitals, Banks and Municipal Committees.
The Union hoped that these genuine demands of the Safai Karamcharies will be fulfilled by the authorities at an earliest.
