Wani inaugurates office complex of CE MED

Minister for Roads & Buildings Abdul Majid Wani inaugurating office complex at Shalteng on Monday.

SRINAGAR, Sept 30: Minister for Roads & Buildings and Mechanical Engineering Abdul Majid Wani inaugurated newly constructed office complex of Chief Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Department at Shalteng today.
The building will house the offices of Chief Engineer and Superintending Engineers, besides Technical, Accounts and Planning sections and a conference hall.
Later, the Minister laid foundation stone of conference hall-cum- guest house in the premises of the Chief Engineer office.
The conference hall-cum- guest house would have lobby, waiting lounge, conference hall, VIP lounge and pantry with all required modern facilities for the guests.
Mr. Wani also launched the official website www.cemdkmr.org of the MED, Kashmir.
Highlighting the role of the department, the Minister said that it has been playing pioneering role in introduction of the technologies, procurement of machineries for various uses in different areas. He said that the department has travelled a long distance and in the journey it adapted itself to face new challenges.
Mr. Wani said that besides handling a wide spectrum of developmental activities, it has also been providing consultancy service for Mechanical works to the other departments and repairing and maintaining of their equipments.
A power point presentation was also presented on the occasion, highlighting the activities of the department.
Among others, Chief Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, Department, Kashmir, Shafat Ahmad Chisti, Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir, Mustaq Ahmad Lone, other senior engineers of the department, besides a galaxy of retired Engineers of Mechanical Engineering Department were also present on the occasion.
