DODA, Apr 13: Abdul Majid Wani, Minister for R&B today appealed people of erstwhile Doda district to reject the communal forces and extend their full support to the Congress Party candidate Ghulam Nabi Azad.
“People of this region have, in past also, given message of brotherhood to J&K State as well as the whole country by supporting and electing Congress party as well as NC candidates from all six Assembly segments in erstwhile Doda region during 2008 J&K Assembly elections, despite of the fact that the whole of Jammu province was swayed away by the communal wave precipitated by BJP in the garb of Shri Amarnath Row,” he said while talking to media persons at his residence, here today.
Seeking vote and support for Ghulam Nabi Azad, Wani said, “We are fortunate because we have candidate like Azad Sahab, who has done tremendous work during his tenure as Chief Minister of this state and while being Union Health Minister, he gave hospitals, medical colleges in this erstwhile Doda district.
He cautioned people about the communal and divisive forces and said that people should understand the designs of those forces that are bent upon weakening secular fabric, unity and integrity of the country and district Doda.
Replying to a query, Wani said that Shahi Imam Ahmed Bukhari himself met with Sonia Gandhi and offered support to Congress Party. “I don’t know why controversy is being raised on this; if Ram Dev openly supports and camping for Prime Ministerial candidate of BJP Narendra Modi who himself went and met with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief, then why Shahi Imam Ahmed Bukhari’s support to Congress Party was gripped into controversy”, he asked.
He cautioned the people about the communal and divisive forces and said that people should understand the designs of those forces that are bent upon weakening secular fabric, unity and integrity of the country and district Doda.
Mr Wani also rejected the reports of ‘Modi Wave’ and chances of Modi becoming Prime Minister.
