VSF presents scholarships to students, honours prominent people

JAMMU, Mar 26: A function was organised by Vishwa Saraswath Federation (VSF) of Saraswath Brahmins all over globe here at Teachers Bhawan Gandhi Nagar today in which Shrimad Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji Matadipathi of Shri Kashi Math Samstan, Varanasi, UP was the chief guest.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Swamiji Mahraj. On the occasion about 275 Brahmin students of Jammu and other parts of country in different age groups including those Kashmiri Saraswath community were given scholarships. The scholarships were presented to the students in all categories from LKGG to PhD by Swami Ji.
In addition to it the Swami Ji also honoured the members of Saraswath Brahman Samaj including some prominent persons of J&K who have worked tirelessly for the benefit of community as well as the nation and have achieved great heights.
The office bearers of VSF while unfolding the future plans of the organisation said that they are wedded to the cause of uniting the Saraswath community all over the world so that they can face the all challenges jointly. They said that last year they had decided to do something for the Saraswath Samaj of Kashmir as the entire community is in exile and it was decided that their students will be provided scholarships this year as a first step.
They said Swami Ji also visited various places in Kashmir last year to have at and on spot study of the religious places and shrines there. The VSF is holding a conference in Mumbai Maharashtra in the month of May this year they declared.
The scholarships were presented to 53 students from LKG to 7th standard, 60 students from 8th to 10 th standard, 59 students from 11th and 12 standard, 38 students of degree classes, 38 of BTech and BE and 25 students of Masters and PhD.
Besides, four students from 8th to 10 class, one in 11th and 12 standard, eight of degree classes, two of B Tech and BE, and four of Masters and PhD were presented scholarships from Kashmir and other states. They were 19 in number.
Those who were honoured included Rajesh Kumar Chibber, Chairman J&K Bank, Dr Veena Pandit, chairman J&K BOSE, Dr Meenakshi Kilm, Director at Jammu University, Dr Kshama Koul, eminent writer and poet, Poonam Chattoo, from Real Kashmir FC Women’s team, Parveen Bali of Mohyal Sabha Jammu, Sanjay Pandita, for revival of Sharda Script, Ramesh Hangloo, founder Director Radio Sharda, Dr R L Bhat, Well known writer, Dr Rohit Lahori for his socials services, Vikram Koul of KP Volunteers, Sanjay Dhar of KMCT, Opinder Ambardar, Suminder Raina ANI Bureau chief, P N Tickoo, SSP, C A U K Handoo a social activist associated with Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and Anmol Ganjoo, Pharma Analyst, Late Ashok Koul, singer popularising Kashmir Bhajans, Late Amarnath Vaishnavi and Hira Lal Chatta, former presidents of ASKPC. Both of them were honoured posthumously. the programme was conducted by P K Raina.
