JAMMU, May 30: All J&K RTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association staged a protest demonstration this morning at Exhibition Ground, against Regional Transport Corporation (RTC) management for not clearing their pending dues.
Addressing the protesting VRS employees, president, VRS Union, Dev Raj Bali and general secretary, Surinder Singh, strongly criticized the adamant attitude of RTC and higher authorities of Transport Department towards VRS employees of J&K RTC while stating that authorities are not cooperating with them in releasing arrears of COLA with effect from June 1999 to December 2012 and DA arrears from 2012 to December 2018 amounting to Rs 67,95,94,710.
“Our own Department is doing injustice with us, as on one hand our services have gone and on the other hand our dues, which were promised to be cleared within 60 days from the date of VRS, are still pending”, they said, adding, Finance Department has released Rs 171.38 crore to the RTC out of which Rs 67 crore may be released in the favour of VRS employees.
Reiterating the demands of the Association, Dev Raj Bali appealed Lt Governor and Chief Secretary of J&K to take cognizance of this issue and resolve the same at the earliest so that VRS employees may get their dues which are already over delayed.
Among others, the demonstration was attended by Sat Bhushan Singh, Ramesh Bhau, BB Sharma, Balwinder Singh, Baldev Raj, Shiv Kumar, Ram Pal and Papu Bhan.
