JAMMU, May 30: MGNREGA Engineers Association here today staged a protest demonstration in favour of their demands.
Rohit Dev Singh, State president of the Association led the protest and while addressing the protesters he said that the government is ignoring genuine demands of qualified engineers and other staff despite assurances from time to time.

“We are aware of public sufferings but we have been left with no option but to continue with the strike,” he said adding that in case the government fails to fulfil their demands then they will intensify the protest which will further increase public suffering.
Singh also said that work in Rural Development Department in Kashmir remained affected for the last several weeks as MGNREGA Engineers Association continue with the pen-down strike in favour of their long pending demands.
The protesters were demanding hike in salary and policy for their regularisation.
The Association appealed to the LG to intervene so that their demands are fulfilled.
They said that the government continues to ignore their demands despite constitution of two committees and recommendations by them were not acted upon by the Government.
