Vomedh’s fortnight Terrace Theatre series begins

JAMMU, May 27: Vomedh Rangmanch, the prominent theatre group of J&K has added another feather to its cap by launching fortnightly theatre series christened as ‘Terrace Theatre, which was inaugurated at Vomedh Headquarters at Janipur, here today.
The theatre series is yet another step in promoting regular theatre activities by Vomedh group which has carved a niche in theatre circles of Jammu and Kashmir and presented various theatrical presentations in and outside J&K.
Prominent presentations include Ek Aur Birbal, Ateeth Ke Sakshi, Khoya Bachpan, Gade Bateh and Rovmut Bhatta etc.
“‘Terrace Theatre’ has been initiated to involve youngsters and new entrants to give them a regular opportunity as well as the theatre lovers to watch performances on a regular basis,” said Rohit Bhat, Director, Vomedh Rangmanch.
“We are also initiating a regular workshop series for the fresh aspirants and theatre lovers,” said Rakesh Roshan Bhat, the playwright and the mentor of the group.
The “Terrace Theatre”, one of its first kind series in India has been conceived by senior journalist, social activist and actor King C Bharati, who is also a part of Vomedh theatre group and is trying to contribute through meaningful and purposeful theatre. Vomedh is known for passion, zest and commitment to keep theatre alive (especially social and community theatre) for over a decade of its journey now.
‘The Fortnightly “Terrace Theatre” series will do a play every fortnight.
The first presentation on the inaugural day was ‘Daya Sanz Daygath’ written by Ravinder Dhar and directed by Rohit Bhat. The artists who played roles in this play included Rakesh Tikoo, Dazy Bazaz, Vinay Pandita and Rahul Pandita.
Prominent among those who attended the inaugural day were MK Yogi, President NC Minority Cell, Ramesh Hangloo, CEO Radio Shardha, Amit Parimoo, JK Bali, Tsewang Dorje, Sapna Soni, Opinder Lidhoo, Shoki Lidoo, Bharati Koul and  Rajni Bhatti. besides the artists of Vomedh group and their friendly groups.
