VMT highlights demands

JAMMU, July 23: Valmiki Trust appealed the Chief Minister to constitute Safaikaramchari Commission in J&K on the Pattern of National Safaikaramchari Commission.
A meeting of the trust was held, which was chaired by its Chairman Jang Bahadur and president Jagdish Khokhar.
In the meeting, Advocate Suhasni Vasisatha and Gian Sher Sonte, social workers, were the chief guest.
Suhasni Vasisatha gave a brief of the different welfare scheme being extended/ recommended by the National Commission for Safaikaramcharis constituted under Safaikaramcharis Act 1993.
Jang Bahadur and Jagdish Khokhar appealed the Chief Minister to grant Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) to all the families of Valmiki/ Christian community families, regularization of Valmiki colony without PRC, stop exploitation of sweepers by way of part time work in Government offices, allotment of land to Valmiki Trust for construction of residential flats and introduction of welfare schemes.
Among others present were Kartar Singh, Ravel Singh, Bira Gill, Krishan Lal, Hyder Masih, Prem, Banti Mattoo, etc.
