JAMMU, July 23: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) celebrated its 58th foundation day all over the State as Demands Day of workers. All affiliated units including industrial, public sector, local bodies, co-operate sector and anganwadi workers and other unorganized sectors spread over almost all the districts of the State held meetings at different places, distributed sweets among workers and congratulated each other.
The meetings were addressed by different labour leaders including senior BMS leader, Lakshman Ravinder Singh, president, Karnail Chand, working president, Vijay Chanel, general secretary, Harbans Choudhary and many others.
The leaders while addressing the meetings highlighted the noble principles of BMS about movement in India and at international level for the welfare of the labour class.
The speakers demanded that the State Government must revise minimum wages immediately and fix Rs 10,000 per month for unskilled workers due to steep price rise of essential commodities.
They further demanded fixation of categorization of workers, making proper records, coverage under ESI and EPF scheme, payment of bonus to all workers whether contractual or consolidated, and stoppage of workers exploitation by making them to work for 12 hours a day.
The leader also demanded immediate convening of tripartite State Labour Advisory Board meeting so that the grievances of workers could be redressed.
They pleaded with the Government to consider their demands positively to uplift the labour class.
