JAMMU, Nov 15: Vishwakarma Day was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety.
Vishwakarma Jayanti is a day of celebration for Vishwakarma, a Hindu God, the divine architect. He is considered as swayambhu and creator of the world. He constructed the holy city of Dwarka where Krishna ruled, the Maya Sabha of the Pandavas, and was the creator of many fabulous weapons for the Gods. He is also called the divine carpenter, is mentioned in the Rig Veda, and is credited with Sthapatya Veda, the science of mechanics and architecture. NMC President Subash Shastri said this while addressing a function held here Several resolution were adopted on the occasion including declaring Viswakarma Divas as National Holiday enhancing salary of daily rated workers to 18000 per month besides release the pending installments of DA. Rajan Babu Khajuria, BS Jamwal, Surinder Kumar, Ramesh Sharna, Jeevan Sharna, Sukhdev Singh and many others were present on the occasion.

Vishwakarma Day was celebrated in the presidentship of Purshotam Chargotra and Mangal Dass Verma.
Vishwakarma Day was celebrated in the presence of Sat Sharma and Rashpal Verma. Cultural programme also marked the occasion.
In connection with the Vishwakarma Day celebrations, a impressive programmes was organised with religious fervour and gaiety in Vishwakarma Temple at MH Chowk Udhampur. President of Vishwakarma Sanstha Udhampur Vijay Kumar Manhas and General Secretary Jagdev Chalotra said that due to COVID-19 restrictions no Shobha Yatra and langer were organised this time at temple. However havan and flag was hoisted amidst social distancing, they said and demanded a public holiday on the day which is their long pending demand. Meanwhile a large number of people from all sections of society including women and children belonging to local areas gathered to have blessings of Lord Vishwakarma. The temple was decorated on the eve of Vishwakarma Day and Bhajan Kirtan were also organised.
Government ITI Kathua celebrated Vishwakarma Day also known as Vishwakarma Jayanti under the supervision of Naresh Singh, Superintendent ITI Kathua. Staff and Students of the Institute worshiped Lord Vishwakarma by cleaning and performing the puja of tools, equipments and machines used for training programme. The Superintendent ITI Kathua highlighted the importance of the day. Shyam Kumar MMV Instructor also spoke on this occasion. All the staff members of ITI Kathua including the students pray for better future and smooth functioning of various tools and machines used for training programme in ITI.
