UDHAMPUR, Sept 19: Agitating for restoration of power supply, people of Rount today held a massive demonstration and also began an indefinite hunger strike.
The protesters, led by Romesh Atri, raised slogans for restoration of power supply, which was snapped due to damage of 400 KV transformer. They were also up in arms against the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur for her alleged misbehaviour with the people who had approached her two day back highlighting their grievance.
While addressing the protesters, social worker Ajaz Sumberiya said it was unfortunate that the PDD has failed to restore electricity in a Panchayat within one km radius of the town. He announced that the hunger strike would continue till the department restores the electricity service in Rount.
Others who addressed the demonstration, included Surjeet Singh, Dimple, Punjab Singh, Jagdish Singh, Vijay Sharma, Sahil Shawney, Raju Thappa, Sanjeev Dubey, Ajeet Singh and Ravi Dass.
