Villagers protest against unscheduled power cuts

UDHAMPUR, July 10: Locals of village Chowki, Katwalt, Rassain, Ladana, Kulwanta and surrounding area today protested against PDD for unscheduled power cuts in Ramnagar tehsil.
The protesting villagers raised slogans against the PDD and appealed Governor Satya Pal Malik for his personal intervention to address their grievance with regard to unscheduled power cuts after every two hours.
These unscheduled power cuts have virtually paralyzed routine life of people in the area where power is being supplied for only eight out of 24 hours, they said adding that on the other hand, flat rate as power tariff was being charged from the people, which amounts to fleecing the villagers.
Villages like Chowki, Katwalt, Rassain, Ladana, Kulwanta, Bari, Dalsar, Basantgarh, Mang, Khaned, Majouri, Keya, Chhattarari, Kadwa etc are worst sufferer of these unscheduled power cuts. The protesting villagers threatened to gherao the PDD office and block the Ramnagar-Udhampur road if the power supply is not made uninterrupted.
