JAMMU, Aug 3: Minister of State for Power, CAPD and Information, Vikar Rasool today visited Gladni Grid Station, Narwal and took stock of the situation of power scenario in Jammu division. He inspected the grid station control room and also reviewed the progress of work on the Data Recovery Centre.
While reviewing the progress on Data Recovery Centre, the Minister directed the executing agency to gear up their men and machinery to complete the construction work within month’s time.
The Minister laid special emphasis on maintaining power supply and repairs of damaged transformers on priority basis. He directed PDD to keep close check on power theft which result in power breakdowns to the much inconvenience of the consumers. He called for minimum curtailment of power so that people may not suffer in the hot summer conditions.
To take stock of availability of food grains in the stores of Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD), the Minister also conducted visit of godowns of CAPD at Jammu city and took stock of the availability of essentials.
While inspected CAPD food godowns at Jammu city, the Minister was apprised that there is buffer stock of ration in the stores.
During the inspection, the Minister directed to prepare the estimate for the repair of godowns of CAPD. He also directed for ensuring timely distribution of essential commodities to the ration holders.
The Minister was informed about the availability of stock position in various godowns of CAPD.
He said that Government is committed to provide adequate necessary required essentials particularly to the consumers of the hilly and far-flung areas and in this connection, the divisional administration is totally alert. However, he asked the CAPD officials to be cautious while lifting the essential commodities from the FCI godowns and there should be no compromise on quality.
The Minister was accompanied by Chief Engineers Ajay Gupta, Shenaz Goni, Director CAPD and other senior officers of CAPD and PDD.
