Vigilance arrests Storekeeper

JAMMU, Apr 18: The Vigilance Organization has arrested then Storekeeper of BDO office Barnoti, Kathua, on corruption charges.
The accused, namely Mohinder Singh of Ward No.15, Patel Nagar Kathua, then posted as Storekeeper BDO Block Barnoti, Kathua, was arrested on the basis of verification conducted by Vigilance Organization regarding allegations of misappropriation of cement and steel for an amount of Rs 9,21,735.00 from the store of BDO-Block Barnoti, Kathua.
A case FIR No. 20/2012 P/S VOJ u/s 5(1)(c)(d) r/w 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt 2006, 409, 467,468,471 RPC was registered in this regard at P/S VOJ on 06.11.2012.
During the course of investigations, further record for about 06 years, has been seized from the store as well as office of BDO, Barnoti and scrutinized by the Vigilance Organization. Further investigations into the matter reveal that the accused official of BDO Block Barnoti by abuse of official position with ulterior motive, misappropriated huge quantity of cement /steel meant for various infrastructural developmental schemes of the Rural Development Department causing loss to State exchequer.
The accused official, who is presently posted as Senior Assistant in the Office of Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, Dayalachak (Kathua), has been arrested by the sleuths of Vigilance Organization and presently lodged in police station Pacca Danga for sustained questioning.
