Veeri reviews physical status of water supply schemes under NRDWP

SRINAGAR, Oct 27: Minister for Public Works and Parliam-entary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today reviewed the physical/ financial status of water supply schemes under NRDWP and irrigation sectors in Anantnag district.
Veeri sought detailed report about the status of each scheme under development in the Anantnag district.
He asked the officers to keep future requirements in mind while formulating the water supply scheme projects. The officers informed the Minister that work is under progress on 98 schemes covering 380 habitations of the district.
The major schemes which were discussed in the meeting included Dado Scheme, Waghama, Balyar, Sirhama, Karewa Bijbh-ehra, Khosro Kalan, Semthan, Viday, Kralpora Brakpora, Now-bugh, Indoo Pushroo, Brariangan.
Threadbare discussion was held about the availability of funds and the status of each work in Anantnag constituency.
The Minister also asked the officers to explore possibilities of enhancing funds for Maintenance and Repair (MNR).
The meeting was attended by Secretary PHE, I&FC, Sanjeev Verma, Chief Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control Kashmir Mir Javid Jaffar, Chief Engineer PHE G.M Bhat and Superintending Engineers of PHE and irrigation & Flood Control Departments of Kashmir division.
Sanjeev Verma assured the Minister that proposal for enhancement will be looked into.
The Minister sought report on the distribution of relief for 2014 flood victims under State Disaster Relief Fund.
The officials said that tenders have been floated for the construction of tube wells for tapping ground water.
