JAMMU, July 3: Northern Command chief Lt Gen K T Parnaik today said terrorists were still deployed at launching pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and are being trained to infiltrate into the State.
“We have information that (terrorists are being trained to infiltrate to J&K to create trouble by Pakistan). Terrorists are camped at launch pads. They have instructions to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir”, Lt Gen Parnaik told reporters in a brief interaction at Rajouri on the sidelines of commemoration of ‘Jhangar Day’ in the memory of Brigadier Mohammad Usmaan, the ‘Saviour of Naoshera’.
He was replying to a volley of questions on terrorists in camps in PoK, Pakistan’s attempt to increase the arch of militancy in J&K and rehabilitation policy and infiltration attempts.
“Their endeavour in the past six months has been to infiltrate militants to this side. They (militants) have made a number of infiltration attempts but all of them have been foiled”, Lt Gen Parnaik said.
He added that in couple of intrusion bids, the militants had managed to reach depth areas but they were pushed back successfully.
“So, far we have succeeded in foiling the infiltration bids. Even if some militants managed to infiltrate, we are capable of taking care of them’’, the GOC-in-C Northern Command said.
Lt Gen Parnaik said a number of militants were camping at the launching pads in Pakistan awaiting an opportunity to sneak into this side. However, he added, any misadventure by the militants to sneak into this side would be foiled effectively.
