SRINAGAR, July 3: Police today busted a militant module in North Kashmir’s Sopore town that was tasked to target VIP rallies and police and security forces.
SP Sopore, Imtiaz Hussain, said that with the assistance of other security forces, Police busted a recruitment module of terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba and arrested its 7 members. He said with this a major terror and subversion plan of the terrorists was averted. Seven members of the terror module were arrested from different areas of Sopore town and adjoining areas.
The SP said that local boys were recruited into the outfit building a network of LeT operatives who were bent upon executing various terrorist actions in and around Sopore in criminal conspiracy with one Pakistani terrorist code Fahadullah who is operating in Sopore who in turn has been taking directions from one code Hanzullah-an LeT commander based in Pakistan.
He said that Fahadullah is the only surviving LeT terrorist of Pakistani origin in Sopore active as on date. “After being indoctrinated with Jihadi ideology, the group members had formally joined LeT organization and were provided the communication gadgets and weaponry”, he added.
“The members of the module have been assigned with various tasks of couriering the weapons and money, identifying the targets vis-a-vis security installations and arranging communication devices. Some of the members of the module were preparing to visit Pakistan on legal documents to get further training in bomb making and other terrorist activities, while others were preparing other terrorist actions including grenade attacks on VIP rallies and attacks on police and security forces”, the SP added.
Imtiaz indentified the arrested members of the module as Umar Rashid Shala alas Khan alias Faisal son of Ab Rashid Shala resident of Sidiq Colony, Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Shosha alias Waseem son of Ghulam Nabi Shosha resident of Sidiq Colony, Farooq Ahmad Sheikh alias Sajad son of Ghulam Qadir Sheikh resident of Bona Laald, Mudasir Majeed Dar alias Ammar son of Abdul Majeed Dar resident of Bona Lalad, Amir Bashir War alias Mahi son of Bashir Ahmad War of Umarabad Warpora, Sopore, Reyaz Ahmad Dhobi son of Abdul Aziz Dhobi of Model Town, Sopore and Maroof Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Mohiud-Din Lone of Hadipora, Sopore
He said that one Pika Gun, 75 rounds of Pika ammunition, two Chinese Pistols, two Pistol magazines, nine Pistol ammunition rounds, one UBGL Thrower, six UBGL Shell, one Detonator, one Rocket Launcher and four Hand grenades were recovered from the Lashkar cadre.
The SP said that during investigation it was found that the module was being commanded by Fahadullah who is operating under the direct command and control of Hanzallah who is a Pakistani terrorist based in Pakistan. “Involvement of these terrorists in other actions of terrorism and subversive actions is being investigated”, he added.
Imtiaz said facing dearth of cadres, the LeT is desperate to recruit the local youth of Kashmir by indoctrinating them with radical ideology. He has requested the parents to keep a close watch over their children and keep them away from these elements who instigate them for terrorism and violence.
