Two injured in clash

KATHUA, Mar 7: Two persons were injured, one of them seriously, in Govindsar Truckers Union group clash here today.
According to the sources, at about 11.30 am, one Waryam Singh son of Himmat Singh, a resident of Ward No. 14 objected to the demand of call policy for allotting the number of their trucks. He criticized specially the way of pick and close policy and favouring the special ones, which led to trouble.
One of the version said the clash occurred due to some resentment among the truckers in the recent concluded election.
Waryam Singh was seriously injured in the attack, who was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for specialized treatment while Mohinder Singh also received injuries in the process to rescue him. He was shifted to District Hospital, Kathua.
Showing their resentment against the attack, some members of the group of truck operators blocked the National Highway at Hatli Morh for about one hour. Later they proceeded towards DC Office, Kathua and protested there.
The agitated truckers also raised slogans outside Kathua police Station. Later SHO Kathua assured them of action.
Meanwhile, police has registered a FIR under Section 307, 341 and 4/35 (Arms act) and arrested four co-accused while three accused were still at large. A hunt is on to arrest them.
