DC holds major electoral conference at Mahore

REASI, Mar 7: District Administration organised a major electoral conference at Mahore in which more than 7000 people drawn from 28 Panchayats participated.
Most of the participants were women and youth. The programme was organised under ongoing Jashn-e-Jamhuriat campaign under SVEEP. District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Reasi Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was chief guest on the occasion.
This was 4th electoral conference in the district organised in Phase-II of the campaign which was launched on February 15 by Chief Electoral Officer, Umang Narula.
The programme was organised by SDM Mahore Ashwani Kumar Khajuria and assisted by DSWO Rafiq Ahmed Jaral. Sarpanchs, Panchs, Lumberdars, Chowkidars from all the panchayats participated in the function which was attended by thousands of people from remote areas like Gulabgarh, Angrala, Mallikote, Chassana, Sungri, Baggodas, Shikari. Grievances of public related to various departments were also discussed in meeting convened later by the DC.
Deputy Commissioner hoped that  people of this region having faced turbulent times during two decades long insurgency have bravely moved ahead crossing all obstacles and will show the same zeal in forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Terming Panchayats as backbone of developmental process, he highlighted the achievements of district administration in devolution of powers to panchayats in past one year and involving them in planning process, first time in state. The DC asked the Panchayats to rise above from political lines this time and vote for democracy in greater numbers through ethical and informed voting.
The Door-to-Door campaign launched by administration on February 25th and signature campaign launched on March 3rd by 943 volunteers has picked up momentum in the district and response was visible in the mega electoral awareness conference at Mahore.
The DC called upon the BLOs to ensure enrollment of left out voters during camps at respective booths on 9th March and continue the efforts till March 26th which is last date for enrolment.
A cultural troupe from Reasi presented a Youth Show before the huge gathering and earned great applause. The cultural show motivated the voters for greater participation and ethical voting.
SDM Aswhani Khajuria administered oath of electoral participation to the people present in the conference all of whom pledged for active participation.
