KATRA, Feb 18: Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib today sealed two hotels here at Katra for grave violation of environmental norms.
Acting on the recommendation of State Pollution Control Board, the DC sealed New Sham Guest House, at Jammu Road and Hotel Meridian, at Panthal Road.

Both the hotels have been found guilty of not installing Sewage Treatment Plant as required under Environment Protection Act 1986, and were therefore sealed in presence of SDM Katra, Ashok Kumar. The owners of the hotels had also been served notices before the closure of their hotels. Moreover, the electricity supply to the hotels has been snapped and also deregistered by the tourism department.
Both the hotels shall remain sealed till the time they comply by the laid environmental norms and install requisite treatment plant.
