Two held with 15-gm heroin-like substance in Jammu district

JAMMU, Apr 18: Two individuals were arrested with 15 grams of heroin-like substance from different areas of the Jammu district today, officials said.
In one of the operations at Mandir Masjid point, they said a team of Police Station Nowabad, led by PSI Umar Qadir Bhat, intercepted a suspicious vehicle (JK02DM-4460).
During checking, the occupant of the vehicle, identified as Talib Hussain (21) of Javeed Nagar, Nikki Tawi, was found in possession of 8 grams of heroin-like substance, they said.
He was accordingly arrested and booked in case FIR number 61/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Nowabad, officials said.
Meanwhile, in another operation near Old University campus, a patrolling party of Police Station Nowabad, headed by PSI Abhijeet Chand intercepted a suspicious person.
On search of the individual, later identified as Manzoor Hussain (32) of Kul Kanyala, SMVDU Reasi, approximately 7 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered.
He was subsequently arrested and booked in case FIR number 62/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Nowabad.
Further investigations in both the case have been set into motion.
