Two die of alcoholic poisoning

JAMMU, Mar 8: Two persons died today of alleged alcoholic poisoning in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, the man identified as Sonu Kumar son of Chan Lal, a resident of Janipur, was found in unconscious condition in a drain at Narwal Yard, this morning. On getting information, Narwal police reached the spot and shifted the man to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
As per the police sources, the man was heavily drunk and a frooti (desi daroo) was found in his pocket. So, prima facie it appears to be a case of alcoholic poisoning, they said.
Meanwhile, another person identified as Darshan Lal (55) son of Baisakhi Ram of Raipur-Satwari, also died of alcoholic poisoning at GMCH, Jammu. The deceased was shifted to the hospital this morning by the family members in an unconscious condition. However, he expired after few hours while being given treatment.
After conducting autopsy, the bodies of both the deceased were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites.
