Two-day Hindi conference begins

JAMMU, Nov 27:  A two-day Hindi conference by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of  Art, Culture and Languages, began  here today.
Topic of the conference  is ‘Hindi Ke Samaksh Chunoutiyan Evam Samadhan’ (challenges before  Hindi and the solutions) with special reference to Jammu and Kashmir State.
Literary personalities of the State are attending this conference for  deliberating upon the issue and presenting their  point of view on the status of Hindi language and literature with focus on J&K.
Eminent scholar Prof Ved Kumari Ghai, who  formally inaugurated the seminar this morning, stressed the need for using Hindi as a link for regional literature to reach the masses of India. “The translation of works of Kashmiri, Dogri, Bodhi, Pahari and Gojri writers and poets should be done into Hindi to ensure wider readership,” she suggested, adding that this would bring local literature into broader focus.
The conference began with melodious rendering of Hindi verses by noted artist Sham Sajan and budding Apurva Jamwal while the keynote address was delivered by Dr Ratan Lal Shant.
In the first session today, three papers were presented, which included ‘Uttar Do Hazaar Ki Jammu Kashmir Ki Hindi Kavita’ by Prof  Ashok Gupta, ‘Jammu Kashmir Ke Sandarbh Main Hindi Patrikarita’ by Dr  Om Goswami and ‘Jammu Kashmir Ka Hindi Rangmanch’ by Dr  Sudhir Mahajan.
In the second and concluding session of  day one, four papers were presented, which included ‘Hindi Ya Matri Bhasha, Lekhan Ke Sambandh Main’ by Chhatar Pal, ‘Nari Vimarsh Aur Jammu Kashmir Ka Hindi Lekhan’ by Dr  Aruna Sharma, ‘Kashmiri Bhasha Se Hindi Main Anuvad’ by M  K  Santoshi and ‘Dogri Bhasha Se Hindi Main Anuvad’ by Dr  Satya Pal Srivats.
Earlier, welcoming the participants, Secretary Academy, Khalid Bashir Ahmad, said that the language conferences was an initiative by the Academy to bring stakeholders together and deliberate upon the status of different languages spoken in the State and issues confronting these.
A number of writers, academicians, poets and scholars of different languages attended  day-one sessions of the conference. They included Prof  Lalit Magotra, Prof  Champa Sharma, Prof  Veena Gupta, Pritpal Singh Betab, Dr  Liaqat Jafri, Dr  Agnishekhar, M K Santoshi, Chhatarpal, Nirmal Vinod, Pyare Hatash, Sultan Ahmad, Baljit Raina, Icchupal Singh, Dr  Sushil Sharma, Anila Singh Charak and Dr  Raj Kumar.
