RAMBAN, May 30: A truck carrying wall putty plunged into a deep gorge and caught fire near Gangroo in Ramsoo area here today leaving two persons dead.
Police Station Ramsoo received an information that a truck bearing registration number JK16A-0693, travelling from Jammu towards Srinagar, went out of control near Gangroo and hit a roadside parapet before plunging into a gorge near Bisleri Nallah where it subsequently caught fire.

After receiving the information, cops along with personnel from Fire and Emergency Services Department, rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The truck was found lying in the gorge in a completely burnt condition.
During rescue operation, body of one of the victims was recovered and he has been identified as Shakir Ahmed Manhas, son of Liyaqat Ali Manhas, resident of Ranbirpora, Anantnag district.
Body of another male recovered from the truck remained unidentified till last reports.
Police said that family members of Shakir Ahmed Manhas were informed and efforts were underway to ascertain the identity of the second deceased.
SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta said that Police has taken cognisance of the incident and further investigation was underway.
Some people identified the second deceased as Mohd Iqbal, resident of Anantnag but DNA samples were collected as the body was charred beyond recognition.
