JAMMU, May 30: Jammu and Kashmir Police emerged champions of the inaugural Elite Master’s Cup (EMC) 2026, a professional badminton team championship hosted by IIT Jammu at the Chinar Indoor Sports Complex.
The three-day tournament brought together teams from the Indian Army, BSF, Media, Bar Association, J&K Police, J&K Power Development Department (JKPDD), Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), and IIT Jammu Faculty and Staff. The event aimed to promote fitness, healthy competition and camaraderie among professionals from diverse sectors.
After a series of closely contested matches, J&K Police clinched the title, while JKPDD finished runners-up. The Champion Team Trophy was presented by Dr Sartaj Ul Hasan, Dean Academic Affairs, IIT Jammu, while Dr Nitin Joshi handed over the runners-up trophy. Individual medals were also awarded to outstanding performers.
The championship was organised under the guidance of Prof Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu. Among those present at the closing ceremony were Dr Anup Shukla, Dr Shiva S, Dr Deepak Yadav, Dr Abhishek Kumar, Dr Pankaj Chauhan, Dr Arvind Kumar, Col P S Rathore, Dr R P Prajapat and Raj Srivastava.
Organisers expressed confidence that the Elite Master’s Cup would grow into a flagship sporting event promoting fitness, networking and sports culture in the region.
