JAMMU, May 30: Jodhamal Public School organised a Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Disaster Management to equip educators with essential knowledge and skills for emergency preparedness and response.
The workshop focused on enhancing teachers’ understanding of disaster preparedness, risk mitigation and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of students and staff within the school environment.
The programme was conducted by resource persons Rohini Aima, Principal and Vice-Chairperson JSS and Parminder Kour. They shared valuable insights on disaster preparedness, emergency response systems and the role of educational institutions in promoting a culture of safety and resilience.
Through interactive sessions, practical demonstrations and discussions, participants were sensitised to various forms of disasters and trained in evacuation procedures, first-response mechanisms, crisis communication and psychological preparedness during emergencies. Activity-based learning and scenario-oriented exercises highlighted the importance of teamwork, leadership and coordinated action in crisis situations.
The workshop was organised under the guidance of Dr Deep Khare, Director of the school, who stressed the need for schools to prepare students and educators to face real-life challenges with confidence and responsibility. Principal Amita Arora described disaster preparedness as an essential life skill and encouraged teachers to become ambassadors of safety and vigilance.
