Bhalla reviews progress on ongoing development works

JAMMU, Nov 27: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today said that focus of the Government was to create all basic amenities in rural pockets at par with urban centres, adding that in this regard several schemes have been launched to improve the living standard and necessary infrastructure.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the people at Panchyat Ghar in Bhour Camp after reviewing progress of ongoing development works in the area, here today.
Mr. Bhalla informed that Government has earmarked Rs. 75 lakh for upgradation of link road from Bhour Camp to Shamshan Ghat, upgradation of left out lanes and drains at Chatha Pind besides construction of parking slot at Bhour Kothey near Government Primary School. He asked the Rural Development Department (RDD) to complete all the on-going projects within stipulated time frame for the convenience of general masses.
The Minister asked the RDD to use quality material on development works, adding that Government was committed to create durable assets for the people.
Taking serious notice of the delay in modernisation of circular road, Primary Health Centre and Julla bridge, Mr. Bhalla asked the R&B officers to gear up their men and machinery in completing the projects within the prescribed time period. He said people of the area have faced difficulties due to dilapidated condition of the circular road besides delay in completion of Julla Bridge.
Responding to the locals demand, the Minister asked the R&B officers to prepare estimates for construction of protection wall on the proposed site of cremation ground at Bhour Camp near Panchayat Ghar and submit the same for funding. He said Government has prepared a detailed project report of Rs. 1 crore for construction of waiting shed, toilet block for gents and ladies besides cremation shed, adding that the project will be started after completing tendering formalities.
Regarding de-silting of choked deep drains on both sides of approach road to Chatha Pind, Mr. Bhalla asked the RDD to immediately start the de-silting work of these drains. He asked the villagers to avail the benefits of Rural Sanitation Scheme offering Rs. 9500 to each household for construction of toilet.
