JAMMU, Nov 27: Two new books of Dogri, a novel “Bhagali” by Pitamber Nath Sharma and a collection of poems “Choori” by Khajur Singh Thakur, were released in a function organized by Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
Khalid Bashir, Secretary of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was the chief guest on the occasion.
Dr Bansi Lal Sharma read a paper on the novel, whereas Prof Veena Gupta spoke on the literary merits of the book of poetry.
A special attraction of the function was a tastefully presented musical composition by renowned master composer Brij Mohan based on the poems of Khajur Singh.
Veteran singers Kumari Krishna, Nirbhay Slathia and Rakesh Slathia and young talented singers Sonali Dogra, Bharat Kumar and Rakesh Deol lent their voices to the compositions. Rakesh Anand, Sanjay ‘Pashi’ and Karan Malhotra provided accompaniment on flute, guitar and tabla respectively.
Khalid Bashir said that this kind of activity augers very well for growth and popularity of Dogri literature.
Earlier, Prof Lalit Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha presented welcome address.
Prof Veena Gupta, general secretary of the Sanstha conducted the programme and also presented vote of thanks.
