Symposium on ‘Save Girl Child’ held

UDHAMPUR, Nov 27: A symposium on the Topic, ‘Save Girl Child’ was held in the premises of Maharaja Hari Singh DAV Public Hr Secondary School, Udhampur today.
33 students of Secondary and Senior Secondary Wing expressed their views on female foeticide, atrocities on women in working places, dowry deaths, exploitation of girl students in the educational institutions, acid attacks by the miscreants on the weaker sex etc.
The programme was sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, District Udhampur.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the institution Sat Pal Kesar said that the girls are the precious pearls of a family, so people should take care of them. He also narrated that the girls are the care takers of the two houses.
In this competition, Paras Dubey of 11th class was adjudged first, Shriya Mahajan of 12th class was adjudged second and Arun Anthal of 9th class was adjudged third. Megha Gupta of 12th class, Sudhanshu Pandoh of 10th class and Ajeet Sharma of 9th class were awarded consolation prizes.
Ramesh Lal, Lecturer, GHSS (Boys), Udhampur, Jagdev Singh Chib, Lecturer, GHSS (Boys), Udhampur and Kumar Sourabh, Lecturer, MHS DAV Public HSS, Udhampur were the adjudicators.
Sunita Razdan, District Co-ordinator presented vote of thanks.
