Two arrested with large quantity of illicit liquor

JAMMU, June 11: Khour and Dharamkund Police arrested two persons along with large quantity of illicit liquor.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Police Station Khour led by SHO Inspector Balwinder Singh laid a naka and intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AF-8596.
During checking, police team recovered 89 quarters of illicit liquor from the possession of the rider and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Surjeet Kumar, son of Babu Ram, a resident of Naryana Tehsil Khour District Jammu. He was carrying the liquor for selling to general public to make undue profit.
A case under FIR Number 38/2021 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Khour and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Dharamkund Police Station led by SHO Inspector Firdoos Ahmed laid a naka and intercepted a Maruti Alto car bearing registration number JK19-8103.
During checking, police team recovered 16 bottles of illicit liquor and 12 bottles of beer from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Arshad Hussain, son of Ahmadullah of Dalwah Gool.
A case under FIR Number 27/2021 under Section 48 (A) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Dharamkund and investigation initiated.
