Trucker among two arrested with poppy straw, cannabis

JAMMU, Mar 13: Gangyal and Bishnah Police two drug peddlers including a trucker and recovered poppy straw and cannabis from their possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information about smuggling of narcotics substance, a team from Police Station Gangyal led by SHO Inspector Joginder Singh and assisted by ASI Tarsem Lal laid a naka at Gangyal Chowk on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway and intercepted a truck rearing registration number JK02BJ-3985.
During checking, police team recovered 3.600 kilograms poppy straw from the possession of the truck driver and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Sandeep Singh alias Sajan, son of Charan Singh, a resident of Lower Gadigarh District Jammu.
A case FIR Number 28/2022 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Bishnah led by SHO Inspector Vinod Kundal under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Singh laid a naka at Chak Shibu area and intercepted a man, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 133 grams cannabis from the possession of the man and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Rajinder Kumar, son of Rattan Lal of Joian Tehsil Bishnah District Jammu.
A case FIR Number 42/2022 under Section 8/20 NDPS has been registered at Police Station Bishnah and investigation initiated.
