RAMBAN, May 20: Banihal police arrested a truck driver and recovered poppy straw from his possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka at T Chowk near Railway Station and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK08E-5675.
During checking, police recovered 2 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Shiv Ram, son of Manga Ram, a resident of Barmeen, Tehsil Ramnagar, District Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 76/18 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Aejaz Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajjad Ahmed Qureshi, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
