JAMMU, July 31: Former Minister and BJP State spokesperson, Priya Sethi while complimenting the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for passage of Triple Talaq Bill in Parliament, said this way lakhs of Muslim women in the country will get justice now.
Talking to media persons here, today along with senior BJP leader, Sakina Bano and other party activists, Priya Sethi alleged that what Congress could not do in over six decades Narendra Modi Government did that in six years.
Terming the passage of Triple Talaq Bill a revolutionary step of Modi Government, Priya said that the this way the Muslim women have been given justice and Modi Government proved that it believes in action and not only in cheap slogans.
She said passage of Bill has also reiterated the Modi Government’s resolve justice to all and appeasement to none and its commitment to the slogan “Sab ka Sath, Sab Ka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas’’.
Priva Sethi said with doing away with Triple Talaq which was common in Muslim society, the Muslim women can now keep their head high in the society as Bill is an end to decades old exploitation and suppression to which the Muslim women were subjected to by male dominated society.
She said the Triple Talaq system is not prevalent in Pakistan which is a Muslim country and it is considered a criminal act punishable under law there. Even the Triple Talaq is not in practice in some other Muslim countries also hence no body should link it with religion.
She said with the passage of the Bill the Muslim women got justice and they will get equal role to play in the society like their male counterparts.
She said in the much publicized Shah Bano case the then Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi had also given in before the Shariat Court and he could not do any thing to dispensate justice to Muslim women. However, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi deserves all credit who removed this social injustice with Muslim women after 72 years of independence.
She said after the enactment of the law to do away with Triple Talaq the coming generations would have not to live under shadow of threat and their confidence will increase. “The revolutionary step of PM is an indication that we are heading to build a new India now- the nation of our dreams’’, she added.
She said earlier small issues were taking serious turn in the Muslim society and after the passage of the Bill this all will stop now and Muslim women will heave a sigh of relief. She said afraid of Triple Talaq 25,000 Muslim girls in the country had decided not to tie up the nuptial knot and they have now got an assurance that Triple Talaq is a thing of past now and a criminal activity punishable under law.
