Srinagar, July 31: Advisor K. Skandan met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Advisor briefed Governor about the functioning of the departments under his responsibility and apprised him about various issues of urgent administrative importance.
During discussions, Governor stressed time bound disposal of files and grievances of people and making administrative machinery work efficiently and in a fair and transparent manner.
Anand Kumar, Educationist from Bihar also met Governor.
Kumar who is known best for running his ‘Super 30 Programme’, which he started in Patna, Bihar in 2002, and which coaches underprivileged students for IIT-JEE, the entrance examination for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), apprised Governor about his ongoing and future plans for extending coaching facilities to much larger number of students from families having meagre financial resources.
Governor lauded the efforts of Kumar in providing residential coaching facilities to the deserving students and observed that such initiatives of mentoring youth in pursuing their professional dreams is what is required to guide young minds on the right track. He also praised his biopic ‘Super 30’ and observed that it would be made tax free in the State.
D C Raina, Advocate General of J&K and Member of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) also met Governor and briefed him about the to-date status of important cases relating to J&K which are pending in the various courts.
Governor and Raina also discussed about various aspects relating to the smooth conduct of ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
Vasundhra Pathak Masoodi, Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Protection of Women & Child Rights briefed Governor about functioning of the Commission and steps taken to ensure speedy trial of offences against women and children.
Governor urged Masoodi to work devotedly for protection of women and children’s rights and ensuring time bound justice to the needy.
A delegation of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) doctors led by social activist Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat apprised Governor about the difficulties being faced by the NRHM doctors who are working in the rural areas of the State for more than a decade and requested for considering pay parity between them and regular doctors working in the government sector.
Governor assured delegation due consideration of its demands.
Rahim Dar, former MLC and met Governor and apprised him about various issues of people living in the far off areas of Poonch district and those living along the LoC. He requested for sanctioning degree college each at Balakote and Mankote; upgradation of High Schools of Kasbalari, Pathanatir, Sangiot, Naar, Dharati Balakote, Sagra and Sarooti, early completion of roads under PMGSY and those being executed by the R&B Department in the Poonch district; speedy completion of Sadhwala bridge at Dhar Galoon and languishing drinking water and electricity supply schemes.
Expressing his gratitude for construction of Bunkers in border areas of Poonch district, Dar requested for more bunkers in the border areas and provision of sufficient number of ambulances in the border areas for giving timely medical aid to victims of cross border firing.
Governor assured due consideration of demands raised by Sh. Dar and urged him to continue his sustained endeavours towards public welfare.
