Transparency, accountability hallmark of present Govt: Zulfkar

RAJOURI, Sept 6: Terming transparency and accountability as the hallmark of the present Coalition Government Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Ch. Zulfkar  Ali today said that   a positive change is  visible on ground  as a result of various historical initiatives taken by the Government.
The Minister stated this while addressing a joint meeting of prominent citizens and district officers.
The Minister said that various initiatives have been taken by the Government to bring transparency and accountability in the functioning of various departments, adding various steps to curb black marketing and pilferage have been put in place to streamline the Public Distribution System.
He added that ration cards are being linked to Aadhar  and department is working to complete digitization process expeditiously  to ensure fair and transparent Public Distribution System in the State. The Minister also  said that  electronic weighing machines have been installed at all the sale points  across the State thereby reducing the chance of black marketing to zero level.
The Minister further added  that process of installation of IP cameras at all food stores is also going on which after completion  will definitely reduce the pilferage to zero level beside the trucks carrying the food grains have been facilitated with GPRS system to minimize pilferage.
The Minister also took a detailed review of physical and financial achievement of the developmental works being executed in the district with special emphasis on health and education sector.
He directed the concerned officers to expedite the pace of various developmental projects for timely completion of these works.
District Development Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Batt, Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Jammu, G.S. Chib, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mumtaz Choudhary besides others were also present in the meeting.
