RAMBAN, Sept 6: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Law and Justice, Abdul Haq today convened a meeting at Batote to review the performance  of the Rural Development Department.
The Minister took a comprehensive review of the physical and financial achievement of the Department in the district with a special assessment of works undertaken in the convergence mode.
MLA Ramban Neelam Langeh, Director Rural Development Department Pardeep Kumar, Additional District Development Commissioner Ravinder Sadhu and ACD Ramban GH Kripak  and other officers were present in the meeting.
Threadbare discussion was held on convergence plan with officers of Irrigation, Education, Horticulture, Sericulture, Youth Services etc. In this regard, the Minister maintained that the plans  be envisaged keeping in  view the area specific developmental needs for creating durable assets .
The Minister directed the officers for ensuring maximum outreach in all areas and ensure proper implementation of the  flagship schemes  meant for providing  employment avenues to the rural masses .
Expressing his displeasure over the delay in preparing plan under Gram Panchayat Development Programme for 124 panchayats, the minister directed ACD to submit the same immediately .
Abdul Haq also directed the concerned officers to ensure optimal utilisation of available funds and timely submission of utilization certificates so that funds are not delayed for the want of the  same.
He maintained that concerted efforts should be made to achieve the set targets under MGNREGA and the available work season should be used optimally for achieving tangible results on ground
Later, the Minister conducted an extensive tour of the blocks Batote, Ramban, sangaldan, Gool and inspected some ongoing works besides meeting delegations on his way from Patnitop to Dagantop.
The Minster instructed the officers for focussing on rural connectivity, bridle paths, water harvesting tanks and those protection works which benefit more households.
He also   visited Primary Health Centre, inspected some ongoing works and sanctioned lane drains, toilet complexes at Sangaldan and Gool.
