JAMMU, Sept 25: Taking serious exception to hurdles and what it called the highhandedness of bureaucracy in J&K UT the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Core Group which met here today has decided to take up the issue with party High Command as well as Lt Governor in the UT.
Various members in the Core Group meeting which was convened in emergency today to discuss the prevailing political situation and spontaneous response given by every section of society to Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) sponsored September 22 Jammu bandh, expressed their dismay over the emerging situation due to what they called the indifferent attitude of bureaucrats towards the genuine public issues and some of the “anti people decisions and policies of UT administration.”
According to sources, the issue dominated the meeting and almost all the members were of the unanimous view that the role of administration was totally going against the policies and programmes of the party. They said that utmost efforts be made that in future such a situation should not emerge in which people are forced to give call for bandh. One of the Core Group members and a senior party functionary went to the extent of saying that Jammu region has already suffered a lot due to 70 year long discriminative policies of the successive Governments and if the same will happen under the BJP rule the party will forfeit its claim of ending discrimination with the region despite many historical steps were taken by the Narendra Modi Government in this regard.
Sources said the members were of the opinion that the issue and concern shown by the traders is justified and forcefully said that there was no justification in closure of bars without giving them a notice to renew their licenses. This is an arbitrary decision and the party should take up this as well as other burning issues with the UT administration in the larger interests of the traders.
Sources said it was also stated by some of the members that already some people have lost their livelihood due to New Excise Policy and there is also resentment among the people on allocation of mining blocs to outsiders and owing to lack of Government vigil and check the mining mafia are fleecing the common people by charging exorbitant rates for sand, Bajri and other mining items.
Sources said that the Mahajan -Khatri land issue was also discussed in the meeting and the members were of the view that Government’s decision on this section of people has also generated a public resentment in this region of the UT. Besides, the party’s future programmes including Sewa Sangthan were discussed threadbare.
Meanwhile a party handout issued today said Core Group of JKBJP took stock of various developmental activities undertaken by the Union Territory administration and appreciated the historical decision taken by LG administration to fight corruption and terrorism to bring lasting peace and development in the Union Territory.
Certain issues of public importance were taken up for discussions and important indicators based upon valuable inputs were taken which will be having far reaching effects. It was decided to work out the ways to address long pending and genuine demands of public . Core Group meeting remained inconclusive and will again continue within a week time to analyze all political situations emerging in the Union Territory.
Core Group also called upon all party workers to be prepared for coming elections to Assembly which will be held after delimitation and for which promise has already been made by Prime Minister and noted with satisfaction existence of strong under current in favour of party in the public.
The meeting was chaired by Party’s national general secretary and Prabhari of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh UTs, Tarun Chugh, and attended by Ravinder Raina president of JK BJP , Union Minister, Dr. Jatendra Singh,. Aasheesh Sood Seh Prabhari JK BJP, Ashok Koul general secretary (Org) , Jugal Kishore Sharma MP , Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta both former Dy. Chief Ministers and speakers, Dr Narinder Singh national secretary, Sat Sharma former president BJP Sunil Sharma, Dr. Manyal, Vivodh Gupta all general secretaries, Shakti Parihar, Sunil Sethi chief spokesperson and Darakshan Andrabi.
The handout said that the Core Group had extensive discussions on organizational issues and took number of steps to outreach public on huge developmental projects of Modi Government specially for residents of Jammu Kashmir. It decided to speed up on going organizational activities so that the public is made aware of their rights created by efforts of Government which had been denied to them for decades
The Core Group also appreciated the efforts of administration and agencies including Military ,Para Military and police forces in effectively containing terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and appropriately handling situation .It also noted the huge influx of tourism in Kashmir which is indication of prosperous days returning to the Union Territory.
It was also noted that the party has made huge efforts to provide needy services to the public in the hour of distress whether during COVID 19 situation or in all other situations. Tarun Chugh reiterated that party stands for politics for the welfare of people and Samarpan of the party towards people welfare is the core strength of the party and that is reflective of huge support the people give to the party.
