Tourism Deptt to hold road shows in MP to promote religious, adventure tourism

BHOPAL, Mar 5: To give a fillip to tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, Directorate of Tourism, Jammu in association with Jammu Association of Tour Operators (JATO), is organising a road show in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh where stakeholders will get to see glimpses of various potential destinations of J&K including religious, leisure, heritage, border as well as adventure tourism and offering a bouquet of experiences to the tourists.
Addressing a press conference here, today the delegates said that world famous religious shrines of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Swami Amarnath Ji, Shiv Khori Cave, Sudh Mahadev-Mantalai, Shri Budha Amarnath, Shahdara Sharief, Nangali Sahib, Machail Mata, Shankaracharya Temple, Kheer Bhawani and Hazrat Bal, offering unique spiritual experiences, will also be showcased.
The stakeholders including tour operators, media and tourists will be apprised of how to reach the destinations and what facilities await them in Jammu and Kashmir, they added.
They said Jammu city, with over 30 daily flights and an excellent rail and road connectivity, houses temples of Shri Raghunath Ji, Maa Bawe Wali (Kali Maa Temple), Jamwant Gufa (Pirkho). The pilgrimage destinations of Purmandal-Utterbehni, Kameshwer Temple Akhnoor, Jhiri Mishriwala and many more site-seeing spots will attract tourists in big numbers round the year, they added.
The hill stations of Patnitop, Sanasar, Bhaderwah, Sarthal and Bani nestled in the lap of Himalayas also offer unmatched leisure, with quality hotels and resorts available for the comfort of tourists. Basohli, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Poonch, dotted with vast green meadows and alpine lakes, are to be showcased in MP to attract tourists. World’s biggest tunnel named after Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at Udhampur, largest and highest under-construction Rail-Bridge at Reasi and water sports activity in Ranjeet Sagar Lake, Baglihar Lake, Mansar-Surinsar Lakes possess immense potential for adventure enthusiasts.
Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh, will be the chief guest while Nagendra Singh Jamwal CEO Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority Jammu will be the guest of honour, Sunil Notani National Managing Committee Member TAAI will be the special guest and Mahendra Pratap Singh MD Travel India Tourism Pvt. Ltd. will preside over the event.
General secretary, Tourism Federation of Jammu, Raman Suri, will highlight Jammu’s potential in religious and pilgrimage tourism and the need for harnessing the untapped areas.
Bharat BhushanKotwal, president Bhaderwah Travel Trade Association, will speak on the potential of Tourism in Bhaderwah-Kishtwar area of Jammu.
Amrik Singh, president Jammu Association of Tour Operators (JATO), being one of the organizer of this event, will emphasize the need for greater collaboration with the travel trade fraternity of Madhya Pradesh and will seek greater cooperation in the promotion of heritage tourism.
The key note speakers are also scheduled to make stakeholders aware of the investment opportunities in the Tourism Sector post abrogation of Article 370.
