‘Toll collection illegal till road gets repaired’

JAMMU, Dec 2: Shiv Sena J&K here today has demanded to stop the collection of Toll on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway till the construction and repair work of the road for widening gets completed.
Addressing media persons Manish Sahni, president J&K Shiv Sena said, after making J&K a Union Territory, Toll Plazas are being imposed forcibly on the people of J&K.
He said that Jammu-Pathankot National Highway is in dilapidated condition for the last some time and repair works are going on it after every 2-5 kms due to which condition of the road remains pathetic which leads to problems for motorists and those who live along roadside.
“In exchange for the facilities of better roads, Toll is collected from the public but as still the roads are not improved, the collection of Toll is illegal,” the Shiv Sena leader maintained.
He urged upon J&K LG and National Highway Authority of India to reduce the number of Toll Plazas on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.
He also said that Toll should not be collected from the pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji.
